T20 World Cup Stats, from the 2007 Final to India's 2026 Title

India's 255/5 against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium is the scoreline most people here remember from 8 March 2026. The t20 world cup stats that actually settle arguments sit a layer below it: who topped the run chart, who took the most wickets, how many titles each side has really won.

All figures here were confirmed against the operator's published pages on 24 October 2026.

This page keeps those figures in one place. The 2026 men's edition first, then the title count going back to the first final in 2007, then the 50-over World Cup career records that Indian and Bangladeshi names still hold, with the women's tournaments of 2025 and 2026 alongside them.

Most runs in T20 World Cup 2026

Sahibzada Farhan ended the 2026 men's tournament on 383 runs, the highest across the 55 matches played in India and Sri Lanka. The batting award did not follow the run chart: Sanju Samson was named player of the series, and India's title was sealed by a final in which the batting came off completely.

The two women's events in the same stretch produced very different totals. Danni Wyatt-Hodge of England topped the Women's T20 World Cup at home with 302 runs over 33 matches. Laura Wolvaardt's 571 at the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup is the biggest of the three, and it came in a campaign that ended with South Africa losing the final by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai.

Most wickets in T20 World Cup 2026

Nobody broke clear with the ball in 2026. Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy finished level on 14 wickets each, and Bumrah walked away with the player of the match award in the final at Ahmedabad.

Fourteen was also the leading mark at the Women's T20 World Cup in England, where Shree Charani of India got there. The outlier in this group is Deepti Sharma: 22 wickets at the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup, player of the tournament, and a winner's medal at the DY Patil Stadium on 2 November 2025.

India's 96-run final in Ahmedabad

India 255/5 in 20 overs, New Zealand 159 in 19, a 96-run win on 8 March 2026 for a third T20 World Cup. The margin reads like a mismatch, and the road to it was not one.

India won all four group games with eight points, including a 61-run win over Pakistan in Colombo on 15 February. Then came the Super Eight, where South Africa outplayed them for India's biggest defeat in the competition's history. India still came second in Group 1 with four points from three games and went through.

The semi-finals were tighter than the final. India got past England by 7 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on 5 March. New Zealand had gone through the day before at Eden Gardens, beating South Africa by 9 wickets.

Bangladesh supporters had nothing to follow in 2026. Bangladesh withdrew from the tournament and were replaced by Scotland, so no Bangladesh name appears anywhere in that year's figures. Every earlier edition is covered on the T20 World Cup page.

Career records from the 50-over World Cups

Sachin Tendulkar's 2,278 runs between 1992 and 2011 still head the Cricket World Cup run list. Rohit Sharma's seven centuries between 2015 and 2023 is the most by any batter, and Virat Kohli's 765 runs in 2023 is the biggest haul anyone has put together in a single edition.

With the ball, Glenn McGrath holds both ends of it: 71 wickets from 1996 to 2007, and 7/15 against Namibia on 27 February 2003. India's best innings return is Mohammed Shami's 7/57 against New Zealand on 15 November 2023.

The highest individual score is Martin Guptill's 237 not out against West Indies on 21 March 2015. The highest team total is South Africa's 428/5 against Sri Lanka on 7 October 2023. India's 413/5 against Bermuda on 19 March 2007 is third on that list, and their 302-run win over Sri Lanka on 2 November 2023 is their largest by runs.

Bangladesh's numbers are smaller and very specific. Forty-nine World Cup matches between 1999 and 2023, 16 won and 32 lost. The 322/3 chase against West Indies on 17 June 2019 is the third highest successful chase in World Cup history, and Shakib Al Hasan's 11 fifties between 2007 and 2023 is third on the all-time list of half-centuries.
