cricket world cup 2027 schedule, venue by venue

The cricket world cup 2027 schedule is out, and the two dates most Indian and Bangladeshi fans will circle first are 7 October 2027, when India open against Australia at Newlands in Cape Town, and 10 October 2027, India against Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The tournament runs from 2 October to 21 November 2027 across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, 14 teams, 57 matches, 12 grounds.

All figures here were confirmed against the operator's published pages on 24 October 2026.

Below you get the group fixtures as the ICC published them, the Super 7 structure that follows the groups, the semi-final and final dates, the full venue list with capacities, and the tickets price band. There is also the 2026 T20 World Cup calendar just gone, because that is still the reference point for how this India side plays a World Cup.

India's group fixtures and where they are played

India are in Group A with Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A. Six teams, five group games each, and India's draw takes them from Cape Town to Johannesburg, Centurion, Bloemfontein and then across the border to Victoria Falls for the final group match of the whole tournament on 24 October.

That last one matters for travel planning. Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls holds 10,000, the smallest ground India play at in the group stage, and it is the closing fixture of the group phase, so a result there can still decide who goes through.

Bangladesh in Group B: five games, four countries' worth of travel

Bangladesh share Group B with New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England and Qualifier B. Their opener is against England in Windhoek on 8 October, the only Group B side to start outside South Africa, and they close against Qualifier B at Centurion on 23 October.

Two of their five are against the sides that reached the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-finals, New Zealand and South Africa, and the South Africa game is at Kingsmead in Durban where the home crowd will be loud. Bangladesh's World Cup record across 49 matches from 1999 to 2023 reads 16 won, 32 lost, so a group with two qualifier-level opponents is as kind a draw as they have had.

How the 2027 tournament is put together

Fourteen teams, but they do not all start together. Two of the 14 places are still open, and the way in is a Super Series played at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek on 2, 4 and 6 October 2027: a single round robin where the top team claims the final group stage spot. The remaining 12 teams are split into two groups of six.

From the groups, the top three in each plus the better fourth-place finisher go through to the Super 7. Seven teams, single round robin, six matches each, and no points carried over from the group stage. That last detail is the one people miss: a side that wins all five group games starts the Super 7 level with everyone else. The top four of the Super 7 reach the semi-finals.

Ten teams have already qualified: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with four places to be decided.

  1. 2 to 6 October 2027: Super Series in Windhoek, three matches, winner takes the last group place
  2. 7 to 24 October 2027: group stage, two groups of six
  3. 25 October to 14 November 2027: Super 7, six matches per team, points reset
  4. 17 and 18 November 2027: semi-finals
  5. 21 November 2027: final at Johannesburg, with 22 November held as reserve day

The rest of the group fixtures, day by day

If you are tracking more than India and Bangladesh, here is the rest of the published group programme. Two matches a day on most days, one starting at 10:00 and the second at 12:30 local time, which in Indian Standard Time puts the first ball at roughly early afternoon and the second match running into the evening.

South Africa v New Zealand on 9 October at Newlands is the pick of the Group B openers, and Afghanistan v Pakistan at Centurion on 8 October is the Group A match most neutrals will watch.

Super 7 fixtures run on seedings, not team names

The Super 7 draw was published with seed codes rather than teams, because who finishes where is not known yet. The ICC did set out which seed each side would occupy if the groups finish to form: A1 India, A2 Australia, A3 Pakistan, B1 New Zealand, B2 South Africa, B3 Sri Lanka, and England as the best fourth-place side, AB4.

On that basis the Super 7 opens on 25 October at the Wanderers in Johannesburg with A2 against B3, Australia against Sri Lanka. India's seeded path takes them to Victoria Falls on 28 October against A2, Johannesburg on 31 October against B2, Paarl on 4 November against B1, Newlands on 7 November against A3, St George's Park on 11 November against A4/B4, and Durban on 14 November against B3 to close the phase.

Treat those names as the seeding template, not the fixture. If India finish second in Group A they slot into the A2 line and the whole set of opponents shifts.

  1. 25 October 2027: A2 v B3, Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
  2. 26 October 2027: B1 v A3, St George's Park, Gqeberha

Semi-finals, the final and ticket prices

Semi-final 1 is on 17 November 2027 in Cape Town. Semi-final 2 is on 18 November 2027 in Tshwane. The final is on 21 November 2027 at Johannesburg, with 22 November kept as the reserve day, which in a South African November is a sensible piece of planning rather than a formality.

Tickets across the tournament were announced in a band from USD $9.62 (R158) to USD $31.31 (R514). That is cheap by the standards of a home World Cup in India, and it is the single biggest reason travelling supporters from Mumbai, Chennai and Dhaka are already looking at the Johannesburg and Cape Town legs. Prices move and category splits per match are set by the organisers, so check the official ticketing page for the current figure before you commit to flights.

The 12 grounds and how big they are

Eight South African venues, three Zimbabwean, one Namibian. The Wanderers in Johannesburg is the biggest at 34,000 and it has the final. Newlands and Kingsmead both hold 25,000. At the other end, Boland Park in Paarl holds 10,000 and the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek holds 7,000, which is where the Super Series and five group matches are played, so those will sell out fast.

South Africa has done this before. The Wanderers hosted the 2003 World Cup final, when Australia beat India by 125 runs, and Centurion hosted the 2005 Women's World Cup final where Australia beat India by 98 runs.

t20 world cup 2026 schedule and how it finished

The 2026 Men's T20 World Cup ran from 7 February to 8 March 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, 20 teams and 55 matches. India won it, their third T20 title after 2007 and 2024, beating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 8 March. India posted 255/5 and bowled New Zealand out for 159. Jasprit Bumrah took the player of the final award, Sanju Samson was player of the tournament.

India went through the group stage with four wins from four, including a 61-run win over Pakistan in Colombo on 15 February. The Super 8 was less smooth: two wins, one loss, and the loss to South Africa was their biggest defeat in a T20 World Cup. They then edged England by 7 runs in the semi-final at the Wankhede on 5 March, while New Zealand had beaten South Africa by nine wickets at Eden Gardens the day before.

Bangladesh did not play. They were replaced by Scotland after refusing to play in India. Sahibzada Farhan finished as the tournament's leading run scorer with 383, and Bumrah shared the wicket-taking lead with Varun Chakravarthy on 14 each. The full breakdown sits on the T20 World Cup page.

Women's World Cups either side of 2027

India won the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup, their first, beating South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 2 November 2025. India made 298/7, South Africa were bowled out for 246, and Shafali Verma was player of the final. Deepti Sharma took player of the tournament with 22 wickets, the most in the competition. Laura Wolvaardt scored the most runs, 571.

India had to scrape into the knockouts: seven league games, three won, three lost, one no result, seven points, fourth. Then they beat Australia by five wickets in the semi-final. Bangladesh finished seventh on three points, eliminated after losing to Sri Lanka. The tournament was officially hosted by India, with Pakistan's matches moved to Sri Lanka, eight teams and 31 matches in all.

The 2026 Women's T20 World Cup followed in England from 12 June to 5 July 2026, 12 teams, 33 matches. Australia took a seventh title, beating England by seven wickets at Lord's. India went out in the group stage, third in Group A on six points after beating Pakistan by 64 runs and Netherlands by 95, then losing to South Africa and Australia. Bangladesh were fourth on four points with wins over Netherlands and Pakistan. Shree Charani led the wickets with 14. More at the women's World Cup page.

The next Women's Cricket World Cup is the 2029 edition, expanded to 10 teams, with host and venues still to be announced.

World Cup winners before this one

Australia go to 2027 with six titles, the most of anyone: 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023. India have two, 1983 and 2011. West Indies have two from the first two editions, England and Sri Lanka and Pakistan one each. New Zealand have reached finals in 2015 and 2019 and won neither.

Three of those finals were decided at Lord's, including the 2019 tiebreak England won on boundaries after the match and the super over finished level. India's two came at Lord's in 1983, 43 runs over West Indies, and at the Wankhede in 2011, six wickets against Sri Lanka.
