“Bangladesh Bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib Sanctioned for On-Field Misconduct at T20 World Cup”

Bangladesh’s fast bowler, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, faced disciplinary action for a misconduct incident during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

In the Group D clash against Nepal, Sakib was penalized with a demerit point and a 15% match fee deduction. The altercation occurred at Kingstown’s Arnos Vale Ground when Sakib, after delivering a ball in the third over, engaged in an aggressive exchange with Nepalese batsman Rohit Paudel, leading to unwarranted physical contact.

This event marks Sakib’s first infraction in a two-year span, violating Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct concerning physical contact. The infraction was identified by umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, alongside third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Sakib acknowledged the breach and accepted the sanction from match referee Richie Richardson, eliminating the necessity for further proceedings.
